Out To Run Short Film Poster

Design Duration: March 2024 – May 2024
Client: James Berry & Kyle Fallon

Design Scope

Alex conceptualized and created a promotional poster for the short film Out To Run: A Blood Velvet Story. This was used in digital and print applications. Additionally, Alex consulted on typography/design of short film’s logo.

Directed by James Berry, Out To Run: A Tale of Blood Velvet reinvents classic vampire tropes by adding a camp flourish, seducing us into the familiarity of its premise with killer style.

Film and poster design are strongly influenced by the Italian Giallo films from the 1970s. There’s a dreamlike, psychedelic quality to these films while also mixing different tones — glamour + murder/blood/crime. In designing the poster, Alex drew on his research to convey the essence of those films, the era to which they belong, and their marketing materials.

Blood Velvet is being developed into a feature film currently in production, releasing in 2025/2026. Alex is in talks to lead the development of the poster/logo/marketing material for this new film.

About OTR: A Tale of Blood Velvet

“I wanted to make a movie that was fun, witty, and subverted your expectations while building towards a knock your socks off conclusion that made queer characters the heroes. LGBTQ+ folks live knowing that the world can turn on them at any time and for any reason. Yet our response isn’t to cower in fear or act out in anger, it’s to dance. To live life to the fullest. I wanted to get all audiences – gay and straight alike – rooting for them!”
